Case Study: WarAnvil

In our second Case Study we’re going to take a look at WarAnvil. WarAnvil is a World of Warcraft focussed blog. The Website also offers other features, but we’ll be focussing on the blog and Website setup today!

The WarAnvil staff got in touch with us when they wanted to redesign their Website. The old blog was not doing anything for them, and the overall look and feel of the Website was harming their traffic. The old site lacked some of the basic features that make a blog easy to navigate and update. The staff needed a CMS that was easy to use, with analytics readily available. They needed to have a contact form for easy contact with their readers and an RSS feed.

External Environment Services Site Redesign

External Environment Services Logo Evolution
This morning I want to talk about the recent redesign we completed for External Environment Services.

In the example of External Environment Services they had a website developed way back in 2005.  At the time the website was more than good enough to convey their message across the Internet.  It completed their total business image.  But that was back in 2005, times have changed!

We find from speaking with more and more customers that they tend to have websites in place from 2006 and earlier.  In every case they at the very least need their sites design updating.  Of course that’s the least they can do. Social media and new web standards are now in place which give so many benefits if they are followed.

Ok so follow on for the complete breakdown of the External Environment Services website!

The Importance of Being a Twit(terer)

Twitter

As you may have noticed, our Twitter account has been subjected to a flurry of activity in the last couple of days, with our Following count rising to just over 1,000. This activity is overdue, but more importantly it’s necessary. The impact that Twitter especially has on the Internet as a whole these days is incredible. From humble beginnings, it’s now got to the point where millions of people will hang on the 140 characters of a total stranger. Actors, comedians, politicians, market leaders… these heavyweights dictate their messages to the ‘Net 140 characters at a time. By and large, these short messages will be read and forgotten, but every now and then, something big comes out of it.

Case Study: Principal Impressions

Principal Impressions

Click the image to visit the site!

This is the first blog entry of many, we will outline how we tackle the process of web development.  The first subject is Principal Impressions.

Principal Impression specializes in environmental construction.  The main focus of their business is the design and implementation of storm water management systems.  Also known as storm water bioretention.  It’s all pretty complicated stuff!

We were initially contacted by the owner of Principal Impressions.  He wanted a Website to inform his clients on all aspects of vertical greening systems.  If anything he wanted an information based site, to which he could send potential clients to learn about the benefits of having vertical greening and storm water bioretention implemented.  The first thing we do in every case of Website design is to meet the client and discus just exactly what is needed.  This aspect of our service sets us apart from most Website development companies, our customer service is second to none.  We strive to make sure our clients fully understand just what we are going to do, and how it will be achieved.  After all, the finished Website is not for us, its for our clients!

After the initial briefing we came down to these conclusions:

  • Around 10 pages would be needed
  • Contact form
  • Flash banner
  • Hosting/Maintenance package

New Brochure Site Pack

A brochure site does exactly what it says. It’s a single page site with your contact details and some basic information about your company; an online brochure. It’s the perfect site for a one man business, as its low on cost, maintenance, and is very quick to view. There isn’t a lot of room for content, but for some businesses, content on the website isn’t essential.

This package is aimed at companies who want the cheapest possible Web presence.  Think of this as putting a leaflet online.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that it has to look basic. We offer our usual range of design options, and the site will be built using the same fundamental design principals we apply to all our work. It’s the perfect way to advertise yourself on-line if you have a limited budget or don’t have a need for extensive explanations or content on your website. A clean, professional, Internet advertisement, with your name and trade for all the world to see.

Taking advantage of this package will give your company the use of a dedicated email address, a professional domain name and a lasting online presence which acts as a form of low cost advertising.  Essentially this package is designed to complete your business’s image by getting you and your company online.

This package includes:

  • Website design and development.
  • Single page.
  • Domain name selection.
  • Email account.
  • First month FREE hosting.
