Hub Internet Media – Website Woes
We got our name, and we love it! We needed a website now. We knew we’d face problems but oh my God did we face problems lol!
The design of our website needed to reflect what we are about. This was the issue, we never wanted to give people the impression of our design capabilities being locked into one style. We needed a neutral but modern website which conforms to web standards. The first design we came up with looked neutral but it lacked the modern approach we were looking for. The idea is to convey an air of great design and functionally which would not taint the minds of potential client who may not like our website. Its a balancing act. One that took us five attempts to get right.
The second website we came up with did look better, looked modern and professional but lacked all kinds of features we needed. This process continued until we eventually came up with the design we are using now. Is this the final design? No, its certainly not. I can see in the future the website going through major changes at least once a year. If only to keep up with modern web development standards. There’s always new features we can add to enhance the experience for our users.
Join me after the break.
Going back to the third design we created. This design became the first working website we used. We had to balance working on our own website and the need to generate revenue. Its too easy to become sucked into designing your own website forever and a day. It comes down to money unfortunatly, we needed to start covering our operating costs and so we got to a point where our website became funcational and left it at that until we nailed down an income. As with any new business generating income is not an easy thing. Why would people want to use us for web design? We are unknowns we had no advertising at all.
Our initial game plan was to focus on local businesses and grow from there. It worked and started to generate income for our business. We started to cover the operating costs and began to make a profit. Going back to our dream of designing great websites for businesses it was starting to become reality. We knew most businesses had bad websites in place, but we had no idea of going about capturing the contracts to redesign these sites. Our main attack plan was to hit local business netwokring events hard. It worked and still does to this day. We are still a relatively new business and only time will tell if this style of advertising continues to work as we grow.
Watch out for more updates in the coming days on our history, brief as it is!
